PROFILER

System Overview

The Profiler has been developed to provide pipeline engineers and contractors very accurate empirical data on the ovality, capacity, and other conditions in new and existing pipelines. The Profiler simply attaches to your existing CCTV Camera and the resulting CCTV images are analysed using innovative 'machine vision' software. More details can be found here...

The Profiler was awarded WRc Certification in December 2004, and recertified in August 2009 more details can be found here..

The Concept - Simple and Easy

  • A ring of laser light projected onto the internal pipe surface
  • Laser image in the field of view of the camera while camera moves through the pipe
  • Analysis performed on the ring of light using the Profiler software to build a digital pipe profile
  • For use with live or pre-recorded to video (tape, CD, or DVD)

The Hardware

  • Easily attaches to your existing Cues, IBAK, iPek or Pearpoint CCTV Camera or Transporter.
  • High-strength carbon fibre and aluminium construction.
  • Internally battery powered (rechargeable) so no electrical connections are required.
  • No moving parts
  • Equipment covered by a 12 month warranty, further details here

Why do you need a Profiler?

If you are a municipality, consulting engineer or contractor the Profiler is a necessary tool for the analysis of the true pipe condition prior to and after rehabilitation. When used as a video survey tool it can provide accuracy up to 1mm when measuring pipe size, deformation, erosion, encrustation, debris, grease, flows, lateral protrusion, surface damage, holes.

Our Precision Vision software uses the latest machine vision technology to automatically detect and report on many types of defects.

Benefits include:

* Fast cross-sectional area calculations for determining flow reduction
* Deformation measured as an out-of-circle percentage
* Corrosion - loss of pipe wall can easily be ascertained
* Quantifies defects, holes, or other abnormalities
* Simple and easy to use measuring software
* Integrates into Cues' Granite, WinCan, and CleanFlow Software.

Technical Details

Pipe Size Ranges

  • Our CCTV model range covers 150mm (6") through to 1500mm (60")
  • The HDProfiler Sytem from 900mm (36") - 3000mm (118")

Profiler - The Software

Manual Measurements

Precise measurements can be taken from a single frame captured from the pre-recorded live video. This captured frame, with its measurement data, can then be stored as a JPEG or BMP file. Manual measurements can be performed on the captured digital profile to an accuracy of 1mm

Automated Analysis

The software uses machine vision. Machine vision is used to find where in the video image the laser profile (red laser line) exists. Each frame of the inspection video is analysed to build a digital profile of the pipe. From this 'profile', the Profiler built-in functions display

  • Flat Graph:

The flat graph shows the pipe as if it had been cut lengthways along the base (invert) of the pipe, and then pulled apart and flattened.
A user defined topographic scale is applied to highlight where the actual pipe radius is greater than the expected internal radius (shades of yellow, orange and red) or less than the expected internal radius (three shades of blue).

  • True Diameter

The true diameter is the median diameter selected from a possible 90 diameter readings and displayed as either a measurement (default) or percentage variance from the expected internal diameter.

  • Ovality

The ovality graph shows how oval or 'out of round' a pipe's cross-section has become due to deformation.

The Ovality function calculates the "q" (as per ASTM F 1216, the internationally recognised standard for CIPP rehabilitation).

  • X Y Diameter

X diameter and Y diameter are displayed as a percentage variance from the expected internal diameter.

  • Maximum Diameter
  • The maximum diameter is selected from possible 90 diameter readings and displayed as either a measurement (default) or percentage variance from the expected internal diameter.

  • Capacity

The capacity graph shows a percentage variance of cross-sectional area derived from the expected internal diameter.

Interfaces

With WinCan, Ganite, and CleanFlow software.

3D Vision

Using the data obtained using the Profiler, our recent and ongoing developments using 3D allow the user to navigate through the selected pipe within its local environment. This is only the beginning........
